Even now, we quite don't know well how does asexuality works... and there's a lot of confussion and misunderstandings about the topic. What would this have been like in the 11th century?
One of them, Joe or Nicky, (I really don't have preferences) is asexual...
After Jerusalem, they start to develop feeling for the other, how this affects to their blooming relationship? do they understand what's happening? or is just like feeling as a freak or if the other doesn't show his desire is because there's none?
How do they develop their relationship in the future? I mean, one of them may want sex and the other agrees to make him happy, or do they have an open relationship on sex, or are they compromised with celibacy?

Joe/Nicky - Modern AU - The professor and the model

Yusuf al-Kaysani is Professor at an university and leads the department of medieval literature. But when the university hires Doctor Nicolò di Genova, an expert for diplomatic (a scholarly discipline centred on the critical analysis of documents, especially, historical documents), he is immediately smitten with the new guy. Not only is he very, very capable in his job, but he's also very, very attractive.

Unfortunately, the new guy drives him insane because Joe is sure, he's 110% sure he recognizes his face from somewhere, but he can't remember. It goes on for weeks and months and he gets headaches from trying to figure out where from he knows him.

Technically, that wouldn't be a problem, but Doctor di Genova ("Call me Nicky, please, only my mom calls me Nicolò and only my dad calls me Doctor di Genova.") is unfortunately a pretty nice guy and Joe's more than a little bit in love already. And apparently Nicky wouldn't be averse to intensify their acquaintanceship.

Still, it drives him insane... especially since many of his students start to whisper as soon as they see Doctor di Genova in the university but no one tells them what's going on with him.

But then one of Joe's postgradual students, Nile Freeman, leaves accidentaly a magazine behind and Joe's curios and skims through it (yes, he wants to know what "the youth" reads nowadays) and discovers a picture of no one less than Doctor di Genova. The guy has a sidejob as model!! And he's pretty good at it!!

I just read this story with Yusuf demanding Nicolo as Spoils of War and it's awesome. But now I have this idea in my head...

The countries of King Nioolo and King Yusuf are at war for a very long time now. But they never met in person. They picture the others as ugly monsters because they don't stop fighting. But it finally seems to come to an end because Yusuf has more men, more resources and Nicolo's army is at the end.

Nicolo knows he has not much left and so he tries one last attack to free his people, riding in the front row with his men. But they fail and lots of men get killed, the rest captured. Together with his warriors Nicolo is brought to Yusuf, bound and still bleeding.

Yusuf asks which one of them is Nicolo because he knnows his enemy has survived and is amongst the prisoners. No one says a word and so Yusuf kills the first one. He asks again and when no one answers he kills the next one. He asks a third time and just when Nicolo wants to get up to say that it's him one of his most loyal soldiers stands up and says he's Nicolo.

Of course Nicolo stands up, too, and says it's a lie. He's Nicolo. More soldiers stand up and all of them claim to be Nicolo. Yusuf kills the first man who rose because he thinks this one is the real Nicolo and then he notices the "hero" who tried to rescue his king.

Yusuf orders his men to tie him up, clean him and bring him to his tent. He's pretty - even for a feral garbage cat - and he wants to keep him as his spoils of war.

Inspired by the amazing prompt above of Joe being like “he’s pretty even for a feral garbage cat,” because if that’s not a painfully accurate description of their first non-enemy opinion, I don’t know what is.


So cats are actually admired for their cleanliness in Islam (according to the Google, PLEASE someone correct me if I’m wrong) and are allowed into homes and even mosques.


Yusuf is something of a community pet in one of the Muslim cities sacked by the invaders. Prior to the city being attacked, everyone kind of knew of this sweet, fluffy cat that was always rubbing against the legs of the market vendors or playing with children or even going to the Mosque and sleeping in a little basket right outside the mosque in an archway or something because the whole community loves this precious cuddlebug of a cat.


Then the invaders come and awful things happen to the city and its residents. A small portion survive and are trying to recover in the ruins of their home which basically became a battlefield.


Yusuf comforts the children, sits with dying soldiers, even sniffs out herbs for the medicine men. Just generally being his little community cornerstone self.


Then he finds this skinny, hissing, possibly injured feral garbage cat who’s missing half his fur and and Yusuf is one of those brilliant but really dumb cats with zero self preservation and is like “feral garbage kitty is my new project/best friend” and Nicolo had been the precious pet of a crusader who had been dead for weeks and because he is thousands of miles from home, lost his human, and is in survival mode, he’s kind of traumatized and jumpy, irritable.


But Yusuf treats him like gold because that’s who Yusuf is and Nicolo eventually starts to shyly follow him and gets used to all these strangers being gentle and kind and to him and the little village that rises from the ashes now has two adorable community cats who always sleep all curled up together in an archway near the mosque.


Sorry for this being weird as fuck but it would not get out of my head.

There are quite a few great "spoils of war" prompts here now but I have an idea, too.

Same situation, war, fighting, Nicolò and Yusuf are enemies and all that. But there's no surrender fron Nicolò's side. So, Yusuf conquers Nicolò's country and takes him prisoner. But to demonstrate that he really won, he decides to present the captured King/Prince/whatever to his people.

Nicolò gets locked in a cage on a cart. He has to kneel inside of the cage and his hands are chained to the bars of the cage. He's naked aside from a loincloth and they visit all the bigger towns in Nicolò's country, while Joe rides behind the cart.
