Adding to that the fandom headcanon that has Andy looking at Nicky as the little brother/son she never had (I'm angling more towards the latter).
I'd prefer this to be non-sexual. Maybe some misunderstandings at first. Like the first time Andy disrobed in front of Nicky and he blushed and then she repeatedly caught him looking pensively at her breasts... but once they start doing it, it's simply because it gives them comfort. Joe knows about it and honestly thinks it's cute up to the potential!author whether the rest of team knows as well.

Booker & Nicky - Getting samples through alternate means/Trauma

But Nicky is so happy when Booker "rescues" him that it makes Booker feel terrible. Booker seeing how shaken Nicky is afterward, seeing him break down as soon as Joe puts his arms around him, makes him feel immensely guilty for what he did, and seeing it take so much time for Nicky to emotionally heal get back to normal makes Booker super hesitant to help Copley get another member of his team alone.
+ Keane holding a drugged Nicky down while Kozak takes multiple samples, and Nicky not understanding what is going on or why they are cutting off his clothes, and Nicky trying to plead with them to stop

And it turns out, in Genoa, Nicky is less of an awkward angry turtle and suddenly at home in his own skin. Turns out, he's absolutely devoted to making Joe feel at home and comforted. (TL;DR: At home, Nicky is Mr. Darcy at Pemberley, and maybe Joe is Elizabeth in that he yelled at Nicky a bunch about the crusade and Nicky actually listened and changed his ways)

Meanwhile, Joe is at the bottom of the ocean dreaming of a man who seems to love Nicolo like family but also seems desperate to kill him. Finally, after centuries the iron is rusted, and he can get free but is he too late to prevent Booker's plan"
I love the idea of Booker's despair making him feel killing Nicky would be a kindness, and the contrasted feelings it creates in Joe's dreams.

At the end of a 5-years no-contact hiatus, Joe comes to Nicky's new house to resume their life together, but he has a surprise - Booker seized the opportunity, and him and Nicky have been a couple for 3 or 4 years.
Nicky says his heart is big enough for both of them, but neither Joe nor Booker really wants to share.

Joe's family used to be servants to the Di Genoa family or other sort of association. Either way, Joe had spent much time befriending Di Genoa's youngest son Nicky. They were inseparable despite the difference in class. Little Yusuf and Nicolò declaring at very young age that they will get married one day to their parents bemusement. But it develops into true love for one another as they grow older into their teens despite their parents thinking they will grow out of it.
However, when Joe was off to some sort of higher education at age 20 (maybe as a way to separate the two?), some tragedy occurred with the Di Genoa's and they were all murdered. Joe is absolutely devastated...and never forgot about his first love despite trying his best to move on.
Many years later, maybe his close friend Booker tries to get him laid and takes him to a brothel. Joe didn't want to go but this is only way for Booker to stop pestering him. He wasn't in the mood for it and asked for whoever ...doesn't even look at the prostitute all dressed and decorated kneeling on the bed.
"Look I know I've paid for you, but-" Joe chokes when he finally meets the eyes of the man, the colors unforgettable. It's Nicky.
Up to writer if Nicky recognizes Joe or not. And up to writer if Joe has sex with Nicky because Nicky will be whored out again to a different person if not well used for the night (if so, Nicky is perplexed by Joe’s gentleness) or maybe Joe wants to cuddle all night and Nicky is confused by this patron. Either way, Joe keeps coming back to rent out Nicky frequently almost nightly.

After meeting Quynh and *hand wave* coming back to the group Booker develops some sort of (temporary?) narcolepsy. The team takes this in stride, except for Quynh, who after missing out on the last 300 years wants to do everything and experience everything now. She doesn’t want to sit around waiting for a Frenchman to take a nap. But complicating matters is Quynh’s need to be close to Booker. After all he had been her only connection for over 200 years. She can’t help it if she’s become attached to the man...
+ Nile gets it, after she met Quynh she slept for 3 solid days and she’d only been living with the dreams for a year. She can’t imagine what 200+ years would do to a person.

Can be in an AU or canon verse. A really traumatic experience happened to Joe once when he was drunk (mugged, sexually assaulted, kidnapped, molested, left for dead somewhere, that kind of thing, all of the above if you're nasty) and he avoids all alcohol now because the feeling of being tipsy triggers panic and puts him back in that place.
Of course, something happens where he gets drunk by accident--maybe no one told him a particular drink has alcohol in it, maybe he was deliberately tricked, or they're on a mission where he has no choice but to drink to keep his cover, whatever you come up with doesn't matter to me--and now he's both drunk and terrified. Nicky has to try to keep him calm and nurse him through not only being drunk but also being hella triggered. (Luckily Nicky is very good at it but it's difficult and I'm also sure it hurts his heart to see his Joe like that.)
