Of course King Yusuf is delighted. He had seen the young Prince before and he knows he's pretty, but when he has him at his mercy, tied and helpless, he's more than happy. And he knows he will enjoy taking him immensely.

Some part of the team is/are undercover in a bad, dangerous organization when they realize someone else is also undercover. And if they can tell person is an undercover cop/government operative/criminal informant/etc, then surely someone else will too. That’ll make it harder to destroy this organization and will get someone potentially innocent killed.

Could be a TOG member’s POV— trying to keep in the boss’ good graces to get access to more information while also trying to protect and cover for this person while also trying not to draw too much attention to themselves because they need to not be Most Wanted when this is over.

Could be outside-POV with the undercover person confused the whole time. Someone covered his really big slip, he got out of having to do Terrible Deed somehow, someone left important information that should’ve been impossible to get right where he could see it, etc. It’s the easiest, safest job they’ve ever had, but their reports make no sense to their superiors?

**TRIGGER WARNING: FOOD AND WEIGHT TALK!!**

Nile, who has been constantly conditioned by society to always want to be perfectly slim and slightly muscled and to hardly have a drop of fat on her, is startled by how blasé and unconcerned the others are about eating habits both on an off the job. Obviously its more so when theyre inbetween and relaxing, but they still dont care much when they are on the job. Its super unnoticeable, but once she realizes they eat fattening and rich foods lots of the time and dont put in any effort to ever work it off, she cant unnotice it at all. She finally, after a while of watching everyone be fat happy and lazy on their days off, asks someone (dont care who) about it and as they explain, she realizes that once you live at least 200+ years, trends and the ideals of society start to blend together. It can be fun and sometimes necessary to keep up with fashion, but theres real effort requires to constantly be up to date on it. And, the guard is just eating what theyve always been eating on days off. Obviously theres more sugar and preservatives, but its still basically the same ingredients. They all love how soft each of the others get because it means relaxation, happiness, and safety.

I just realized im warping a common nicky/joe trope to fit the team, but i was listening to MIKA and now i want to see nile lose all her inhibitions on weight and eating habits of the modern era.

Bonus for someone (person explaining to nile?) to sorta point out how fat distributes differently on each of the team members to further prove that weight doesnt matter, you cant force fat to settle anywhere it doesnt want to, and that everyone looks different and to conform to society is nearly impossible.

(Disclaimer: i dont want any weight shit to start. Im not on tumblr but apparently there was some stuff abt luca somewhere and i think its bullshit that people with even a little fat on their bones can be criticized. This also isnt to say i think kiki layne is too skinny or unhealthy. Like i said: I dont want to start any weight shit. I just want them to be happy and loose and totally fine with their bodies, as someone who has trouble being happy with my own)

I know there’s been a couple of Joe/Nicky in the iron maiden au’s but I couldn’t find one that matched this.

I’m looking for recovery post iron maiden. Ideally Nicky who was below the water but happy for a flip on this too. He really struggles to adjust to modern life and Joe and the others do everything they can to help avoid triggering his trauma (ie: water of any kind, small spaces). The problem is that Nicky isn’t AFRAID of these. After 500 years of nothing but silence and small spaces, it’s the opposite he can’t deal with — all the electronics and so many people and traffic and TVs and planes. He can’t sleep, can’t reconnect with the team. Maybe this culminates in Joe finding him in the bath with a weight on his chest to keep him under (not because he wants to die, just because he wants some rest/relief/etc.). If blindfolds/headphones/sensory dep makes it’s way in in the healing process that is a bonus but you do you.

TL;DR — Nicky misses the silence of the iron maiden, struggles to adjust to modern life. Lots of angst and healing.

They kill each other many times until they realize, whatever they do, they can't die. They become travel companions, they become friends and then more. But when he and Yusuf get to the part where they would get naked together, Nicolò always shies back because he's missing something down there...

In an effort to be more of hands-on dad (he's fallen out of practice with these things since his wife died), he attends parent-teacher night for the first time in a while. And he meets Nile, and they hit it off. Could be platonic, romantic, whatever author's feeling...

Joe/Nicky, Joe/Booker, Iron Maiden Nicky AU

In comes a very specific idea that I would write if I could, but can't so...

AU where Nicky is the one down in the bottom of the ocean instead of AU. For centuries, Joe has been searching and doing everything to get his lover back. He does nothing else and it's been so bad for him and those around him...It's essentially futile but he won't give up. When a new immortal is found, Joe’s hope is renewed since maybe Booker may provide some clues through the dreams.

But...when asked if he dream of anyone in the ocean, Booker lies and says he saw no such thing. A lie only meant to relieve Joe’s suffering. After seeing the dreams of Nicky drowning over and over again, Booker thinks logically this is an endeavor without eternal success and it will do this haggard and tired man much better to move on. Or maybe it could have also he had talked to Andy and Quynh about it and hearing the tragic story, they all collectively agree to lie to let Joe move on and finally live.

Joe is devastated, thinking the lack of dreams meant that his lover is gone forever. Anguished, having lost his other half, he's lost without purpose. Eventually Booker loses his wife and sons, and he's also broken. Maybe Joe and Booker bond over that loss. They start to have sex to compensate for their empty souls and broken hearts. Maybe it's what helps them heal and move on? Although part of Booker will forever hold that guilt about having lied about Nicky, but then he thinks it's for the best...look at how Joe is starting to smile and laugh now.

Nicky was in darkness for so long...and when the dreams start, he starts to have hope...which is promptly crushed by the dreams of Yusuf laying with another man. At first, he was in denial that he was hallucinating. No way his love would do that to him. Then, he's angry, so so angry that Joe is not even trying to find him, was their love not good enough? Eventually he spirals into depression and acceptance, that in the end, the problem was with himself that Nicky is not good enough or worth it for someone as wonderful and beautiful as Joe. Why else would Joe stopped searching for him? Besides, if he can see Joe’s laughter and smiles in the dreams, it is enough and more than what he deserves.

And Nicky fades, still alive but not really, having given up on everything.

Modern century, the team is relatively okay in that Andy/Quynh always had each other, and Booker and Joe have healed each other. Still have bumps and the gaping hole that was once Nicky's spot, but the family has grieved and come to qualms with it by now. Then Nile comes into the fold, and she wakes up haunted by a face of a man in an iron maiden. She asks if there were more immortals, but the team explains about Lykon and Nicky having died...and she doesn't think too much of it, but the dreams continue and she starts to question if Nicky really did die in the ocean...

Up to writer on the fallout of Joe finding out Nicky was still alive all this time and also how they end up rescuing him from the bottom of the ocean. But when he comes up, I want Nicky to just leave, no words or any explanation. He doesn't want to get in the way of Joe's new relationship, and he also doesn't know if he can hold himself back when so close to the man. Nor does he feel any connection to his family anymore, having felt abandoned and forgotten for centuries. No anger please! He's long passed the anger and is simply tired and weary.

How all these tangles get freed is again up to the writer, I just want a lot of angst caused especially by lack of communication or miscommunication. And maybe a scene like this too?
Joe is horrified at everyone but especially himself when he realizes Nicky still lives. And if writer goes to route that everyone but Joe was in all this, Joe being absolutely furious with everyone and feeling justifiably betrayed. He leaves to find Nicky, but Nicky is not opening up to even talk to him. Joe devastated but understanding, but also not wanting to leave Nicky behind because that's what he did the last few centuries. So he sits outside the door of an old abandoned cottage that Nicky in, and waits until Nicky is ready to speak with him, to let him explain and beg for forgiveness.

Days pass, Joe is starved and dehydrated, but he doesn’t budge from his vigil. Nicky suffered worst for centuries, he tells himself. There's very little movement inside the cottage, Nicky mostly sleeping and doing nothing, but acutely aware of Joe’s presence across the door... maybe he tries to ignore him but one day sees Joe having died from dehydration (he leaves the cottage to get forage only during the time Joe is asleep), in panic, Nicky pours water for Joe to drink. Then it became foods, and then a blanket, then a paper/pencil and so on. Joe is always brought to tears when he sees these simple offerings of comfort and sustenance by Nicky, giving him hope that maybe they maybe things can be fixed... it takes some time, but eventually Nicky opens the door to let Joe in figuratively and literally.

After being immortal for literally more than a millenia, andy has no fucking clue how to deal with suddenly losing that and being vulnerable. Suddenly shes not sure how to act, how to walk, how do anything! Shes acutely aware of the danger she now faces. So she shuts down. The night after the whole merrick thing, all the adrenaline has left her and now her ‘this changes nothing’ feels empty and it crumbles to pieces in her overthinking. So she packs a bag and leaves. She feels like shes got serious thinking to do about her life and how she wants to go about the end of it, but she needs to be alone for this.

Cue the rest of the team waking up in the morning, distrust more palpable than the lackluster meal nicky reheats, and freaking out over andy being gone with hardly a note!

Basically, im asking for the team to really have to band together to find andy to at least make sure shes ok, and to be there for her. They dont want her to be alone but if she needs space to rethink literally everything, theyll remain close by. The team has to hack, has to track, and has to really find their footing with nile as a totally new member with a breakdown just around the corner, nicky and joe still traumatized from their short stint with involuntary captivity, and booker who doesnt even trust himself anymore.

Id prefer to keep nile very prominent in the story, but since i have joe/nicky/booker up there i think this would be a really good and fun way to see how theyd react being forced to work together the day after the betrayal. Would they try to send booker away? Would he go willingly but need to return? Do they have to sleep in caves again and work in close proximity giving each other stink eyes and mournful looks in equal measure? Totally up to you, but id prefer if things do get better by the end when they find andy.

(Maybe they find andy with quynh lol) also i feel like this might be out of character? But i think the interactions between them all in this scenario would be awesome.

... I could see them all working their asses off for the better part of six months and all those yummy dynamics being explored. And they keep getting really close but no cigar.

Quynh breaks out of the Iron Maiden because she can’t believe how BAD they are at tracking her wife. (Her opinion.)
She collects her family, kicks Booker a few times for good measure, and they find Andy in less than a week.

Andy is mortal now. And she has a lot of knowledge about history, that no one else has. So, Copley coaxes her to write it down and after a while Andy agrees. So, she sits down and writes a book. Or more, because 6000 years is a lot of time and lots of stuff happened. She knows that it probably won't be published, but it can't hurt to write it down, right?
Joe, Nicky and Nile agree to help her. I mean, Joe is good with words, Nicky is good with grammattics and Nile... Nile can type really fast :D

Joe/Nicky - Dear Frankie AU

So Joe left a bad relationship with his young child and he's been moving around ever since to keep away from his ex. But he never wanted to tell his kid the unpleasant truth, so instead, he tells them that their other dad is a sailor, and arranges matters so that when the kid writes letters to Dad #2, they go to a post office box, and Joe can get them and write responses 'from' the kid's other parent.

This works great up until the boat Other Dad is supposed to be on is scheduled to show up in their new town, and he has to hire somebody to pretend to be his kid's dad. (Enter Nicky, obviously.)

I really, really want this with Joe as the parent, but I'd honestly be happy to get my hands on the reverse too (it would probably be greedy to ask for one of each, huh?) - all I ask is that either way, the ex isn't Merrick or Keane - just a run-of-the-mill bastard will do fine.
