The Team, Cult is Based On Andy

This was vaguely inspired by that fic where they investigate the glow-cloud cult.

The team doesn't usually do cults, but Copley is strangely and bizarrely insistent that they investigate this one. He's also being weirdly cagey about how exactly he found it in the first place.

This particular cult (or, hell, maybe it's just a scam selling religious whatevers and very expensive spiritual courses, but Copley insists it's at high risk of Weird Bad Cult Shit) is very into pseudo-historical 'reconstruction' of pre-Christian religions (I was thinking the kind that insist any deities with similar names and or functions are The Same Entity, even if they're from very different cultures, etc., but pick your own brand of inaccuracy if you like) and Andy is all prepared to point and laugh and/or groan, and basically silently heckle them for getting it wrong, because she was THERE. But then they discover that the main deity, the one who the cult revolves around and reveres and keeps secret from all but the full members... is Andy.

Unfortunately, since there's very little actual documentation left from that culture/time period/section of society, they've filled in a lot of holes by just making shit up. Andy is PISSED. And also just, like. Flabbergasted.

[Copley definitely found out about the cult because they met on some forum while both researching The Historical Adventures of Andy, but he doesn't want to admit it, because, well... it's embarrassing. Also it would remind them of how he's a weird Google-stalker who sold them out to Merrick, and they're trying to get past that!]

I just really want a fic where Andy and Joe are basically competing in the “who can be more protective of Nicky” contest, which can often lead to some bickering.

Nicky and booker are used to it. Nile is just...confused...

Merrick and Copley think that, with Booker as their inside man, they've got it in the bag.

What they don't know is that years ago, Keane was sent on a highly classified, "if you get caught we'll deny everything and produce backdated discharge papers" mission which went to shit. The only reason they weren't caught and executed, tortured to death or dumped into a foreign prison to rot was, you guessed it The Old Guard, who was doing a job in the same area and ended up saving their asses.

When he first heard of Copley's pitch, he was very skeptical. When he saw the South Sudan video, he almost had a heart attack - he owes them his life and now he's supposed to capture them? Also, assuming the whole immortality thing can be duplicated, he's pretty sure he knows who would benefit - I.e. not people like him or his loved ones.

Problem: he knows Copley has a mole in the team, but he doesn't know who it is (admittedly, he doesn't think it's Joe or Nicky, but he has to suspect everybody)

How does the story change?

Random stuff:
- Keane was definitely not in command during the mission where he met the Guard, just part of the team and pretty young.
- the old guard does not recognize him (perhaps they never saw his face?) and are very surprised when he starts helping them
- would prefer if Copley was still helpful, though Keane is Not Happy to work with him (soldiers vs spooks)

Someone in the team has self-harm scars from before which will never fade. They are ashamed/embarrassed. Someone in the team shows them that it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Bonus for it's in an awkward place. Extra bonus, it's implied they still struggle with self-harm even when it doesn't show.

Romance/shipping is fine but not necessary.

Gen, related across the centuries

A little inspired by a previous prompt about siblings: going through Copley's records the team somehow discovers that immortality might actually be genetic, it just skips a lot of generations. So: two of them have a common ancestor some centuries/millennia back. They could technically be in a romantic/sexual relationship, since plenty of people irl likely have a great-great-great-great-someone in common without it being an issue, so I'm down with that.

I'd really love an exploration (as serious or as comedic as you'd like!) of what this means both across such huge stretches of time, and with such huge age gaps between some of them. Maybe it's not as simple as Andy being everyone's 100x-great-aunt. Maybe one of them had a child from before they became immortal and a couple of centuries later, boom! They're a great-great-etc-grandparent.

Nevertheless, they'd been a found family much longer than they've known they're genetically related, so that always comes first. It doesn't change how they feel about the others, i.e. of course they have Emotions about being related, but their relationship doesn't become extra-special within the group.

+ would love if it was Nile finding out she's related to one of them, because being so new she still struggles with leaving her actual family and feels displaced, and this helps a little.
+ if you want to take the sadder, more serious route: the person they're related to was Lykon.

Booker + Team, Mental Health Issues

So I'm in a pretty rough place mentally right now and all I can think about is the team maybe being clued in Booker's rough mental health, maybe post whatever happened with Quynh (maybe she tortured him?) which didn't remove any of the time off his sentence (but the team is on speaking terms with him, considering it would be pretty hypocritical of them to accept Quynh back with open arms but not give any leeway to him) and he's struggling to cope without having constant missions and preprepared reasons to get up in the morning. Maybe he has more intense mental issues like he's maybe gotten the psychotic end of the PTSD stick or has a psychotic depression. How the team responds is up to the filler. (just please no disparaging or vindictive "he deserved it" fills, mental illness is an illness.)

+10: maybe Nile suggests some stuff or maybe even coaxes with a "if you do it, i'll do it" to be supportive

Just a wild idea came to me but what if the team somehow came across the Jumanji game (can be pre or post Jumanji movies) and get a game going.

I prefer it as their immortal selves since I cannot help but think that could be interesting with the game pitted against undying players but mortal verse is fine too!

Yusuf/Nicolo, pre-relationship. Emotional bonding via accidental baby acquisition

Nicolo and Yusuf have made great progress in their relationship! They've gone from trying to kill eachother three times a day to half-heartedly threatening to kill eachother three times a day, are traveling together and haven't ever talked about that time Nicolo finally took a bath and it turned out he cleans up very well and Yusuf was like ah fuck, or that other time at the market when Yusuf heard something funny and laughed with such joy and so many eye-crinkles and Nicolo was like ah fuck.

So now they're traveling together when they come across an abandoned/lost baby and it turns out they have to take care of it until they're able to return it to its family, who conveniently live weeks and weeks away. And it wouldn't be a problem if Yusuf didn't try to soothe the baby every night with stories and lullabies (slightly off-key but very tender) his mother used to sing to him, and if he didn't get nostalgic and in a moment of appalling emotional vulnerability decided to reminisce about this family to Nicolo. Or if it didn't turn out that Nicolo is surprisingly competent with babies and in a moment of frankly disgusting weakness revealed to Yusuf that he is the oldest and most responsible of six siblings, whom he loves and misses very much.

Basically the Victor/Victoria concept of hiding your real big secret by giving people some other entertainingly scandalous secret that they can feel smug about uncovering and not look any deeper. Bonus points for stories that should be absurd but weirdly make sense in context.

Would love outsider POV, some poor classmate or neighbor trying to figure out what is it that's off about these new people and then having the aha! moment when they successfully deduce that Nile won a big lottery drawing, or Andy grew up in some off grid hippie commune/cult compound, or Nicky and Joe are the runaway sons of rival crime families (somebody was rereading Romeo and Juliet when they set up those IDs), or Booker is AWOL from the French Foreign Legion (actually technically true but it was back around WWI).

Book of Nile, warm and cozy

After his first death (and his second, and his third...) in the Russian winter, Booker feels like he can never get warm no matter what he does. It’s just one of those things he kept from the rest of the team (like the fact that he was still dreaming about Quynh...), but post-exile, pre-Book of Nile (or early BoN), Nile notices and makes it her personal mission to stop his little sad shivers.

Between researching the coziest socks, plying him with hoodies, making sure that their safe houses have a working fireplace and are stocked with blankets, testing out hot water bottles, and finally of course lots of cuddling, Nile finally succeeds in making him feel warm and safe again.

I’m just looking for a Nicolò that is 1000% gone on Yusuf, and keeps giving him heart eyes- except Nicolò’s heart eyes are extremely intense and easily mistaken for murder eyes.

It’s early days of their immortality and Yusuf thought they were getting along now, and is upset that Nico seems to want to skin him alive or something.

Bonus points: some well-meaning stranger approaches Yusuf like “Sir there’s a man watvhing you, I think you’re in danger!” and he’s like “no, thank you but no..,”

Nicky is pregnant (can be A/B/O or explained away however) and he is beginning to suspect he might be carrying the son of Satan.

Joe can be Guy, the husband in the film and go in a dark direction. Cerebral horror where Nicky is slowly isolated and gas lighted by Joe and all their neighbors and doctor. Unsure of what is real or paranoia. (I think about that scene where Rosemary wants to go to another doctor and her husband says no and that he won’t pay for it - like how must it feel to realize you can’t do what’s best for the child growing inside of you, no agency or money to check for yourself, and totally unsure if you are going crazy or not)

Or maybe go to the crack! side of this idea, like the plot to Little Evil on Netflix where Joe ends up as the positive stepdad to Nicky’s freaky son.

What it says on the tin. Joe really doesn't like it when other people look at Nicky in a certain way. He knows Nicky was the muse of many artists and there are loads of pieces of art of him... but that doesn't mean he has to like it.
