In this ABO AU, Betas are the rarest designation, making up only a tenth of the world's population. Betas are considered second class citizens and are encouraged not to marry and have children. They almost always work in caregiving roles, traditionally 7 days a week, and are paid very little. Most of the world's major religions endorse discrimination in one form or another (maybe saying Betas were criminals in a past life, or Betas were only created to serve Alphas and Omegas).

Booker broke norms by marrying and having 3 sons, as well as engaging in forgery as a profession, rather than being a good little Beta. This contributed to his sons resentment as they were bullied by neighbors/other kids constantly.

Starting around the early 20th century, attitudes began to change, but being as old as he is Booker cannot shake his feelings of worthlessness as the only Beta member of the old guard.

The story could be about his relationship with the other team members (and the outside world) over time, or after his reunion with the team.

Nicky's apartment is on fire and the only way he can get out is by jumping out of the window

Joe was passing by and he saw the apartment building on fire and then he sees a guy dive out his window and Joe runs to catch him because from that distance Joe was sure this guy was gonna break something on the way down

I know I started this by suggesting Ocean's 8 but OP I'm not obsessed with figuring out how to make them work XD

Andromache and Quynh as Debbie Ocean and Lou Miller (or vice versa – Quynh in the iron coffin could parallel Debbie’s time in jail plotting her revenge but Andy and Debbie both felt very much like the boss the whole in time both movies)

Nile as the actress Daphne Kluger (the fact Daphne put the whole thing together from tiny fragments feels like it fits with how Nile put everything together just from being given an empty gun)

Yusuf as Amita the jeweler (the family scene just screams to me something I could see Joe would be embroiled in or it could be fanon makes me want him to have a large vibrant family)

Nicolo as Rose Weil the fashion designer (I honestly just want the energy of Joe and Nicky doing the Cartier scene that Amita and Rose are in. That and the ‘oh shit’ moment when Joe could see quiet awkward Italian Nicky just eloquently speak French to get them the Toussaint necklace)

Copley as Tammy the fence (both just exude that awkward prim energy to me)

Sebastian as Leslie/Nine Ball the hacker (I slotted Booker here since he was shown as the main computer guy but then I thought…. What if instead of the sister Veronica to help them out its now the son Jean-Pierre showing off some of his father’s brilliance and that he’s following in his footsteps a bit)

Lykon as Constance the pickpocket (I know it feels like there is no one left to be Constance but Lykon but hear me out – we don’t get a lot of scenes of Lykon in the flashback or in the deleted scenes but what we do get is someone playful and well grounded. The playful energy and easy self-confidence makes me think he could be able to get in for a bit of razzle-dazzle hand of sleight pickpocketing)

We do have wonderful fics with Nicolò walking in on Yusuf with other people and pining, but I'd really love to see it with the roles inverted.

+ experienced!Nicky with a scarily accurate gay radar (that somehow has a huge blind spot for Yusuf)

Nicky and Joe have a very weird relationship: they can work together, they still kill each other but they also fuck.
Then Merrick's lab happens - how does it change things?

+ both Nicky and Joe are utterly convinced that the other is destined to kill him permanently

Nicky has to go undercover as the boy toy to a mob boss or something but with the info Cooley's given them, it looks like Nicky has to go in alone for the up close and personal stuff while the others linger on the edge/surveillance from afar

And Joe is so sexually frustrated about it. He's watched on surveillance cams and through a scope rifle the mob boss getting to partake in his lovely Nicolo and he's so annoyed

-Nicky is dressed so beautifully and maybe playing up the idiot card a little too well- he coos and giggles at everything the mob boss says and it drives Joe up the wall every time- especially when Nicky knowingly winks in the direction of the hidden camera that Joe knows Nicky knows he is watching before doing something so utterly sexy Joe needs to go lie down

-Booker's been making fun of Joe the whole time they're on this mission and Joe is one second closer to gutting him if he makes one more sexile joke

-Andy is the only other person who can periodically go in person because she's disguised as a club owner and Nile keeps track of any documents Nicky manages to sneak Andy when the mon boss isn't practically shoving his tongue down Nicky's throat or showing him off like a prize trophy

-The minute the mission is over after the big bust, Joe doesn't even wait until they get out of there, he's on Nicky and they're making out and pawing at each other on top of the mob boss's car while the boss sees and they don't care because the team is already in the process of restraining and arresting him

Nicky has a small smile or a small snort at most as reaction to whatever joke the Old Guard members say. He does find things amusing but he doesn't have much of a physicial reaction to it except when it comes to Joe. Joe doesn't need to try and Nicky is already bursting in laughter. It can be the worst dad joke that makes everyone else cringe, and it'll make Nicky laugh out loud.

I've seen so many fics where Nicky is the repressed one who needs to get over his Catholicism to be with Joe (and Joe has unending kindness towards Nicky). And that's awesome. But now I want the opposite: Joe fucking HATES Nicky when they meet.

After the initial killings of the battlefield, when they learn they are immortal, Nicky believes it's destiny that they're meant to be together. But Joe? He's hates that they're dying together, he hates that they're stuck together, and he wants nothing to do with Nicky because of the atrocities committed. It's bad enough he can't die, but now he's tied to a *Catholic* who caused all the destruction in the first place. He hates everything about Nicky. At the same time, Nicky is following him around, dying of starvation, trying to atone, and Joe can only kill him/watch him die for so long. A true enemies to lovers fic!

- Bonus points for Nicky just... letting Joe kill him without a fight, over and over, which enrages Joe even more.
- More bonus points if Nicky keeps trying to give Joe gifts, and connect with him, and learn Arabic. Anything for Joe to talk to him, and not leave him scared and alone in their new immortal lives.

OP here. I literally woke up in the middle of the night to post that crack!fic thought, so now that I'm actually awake, here are my full prompt thoughts.

Nicky is totally the guy in the group who's like "they shouldn't be playing God" and knows this isn't going to end well. Andy is like "Oh, I love dinosaurs, I remember when they were around" and Nile is like...what. Cue her staring at Andy while Nile math-memes in confusion. Nile just...loves dinosaurs. She's the person who legit just wants to go to Jurassic Park. Booker is like doubled-up on sunglasses and sunscreen to protect his Frenchness in the South American sun. He probably gets bit by compys and ends up punting them like a football.

Joe would probably end up headbutting Dr. Wu, cause after dealing with Merrick, he has had it with these short greedy motherfucking geniuses on his plane. Booker would probably be like "Listen, bro, we all killed our bosses at some point," to Eli Mills, if he ran into him, and Andy is just like "Wow, rude."
