Whenever one, or both of them, need to separate for a mission, the other tries to be as patient as possible and not give into the loneliness. But they're only human. Then the other comes back, maybe midway through their partner's needy play session only to help take care of them.

Bonus: This all takes place after the movie, meaning that Joe is even more angry and conflicted.

Rescue maybe takes a few days longer and Joe has no idea of where Nicky is or what is happening to him. All he knows is that, sometimes, he can hear Nicky scream.

After what seems like just another run death (shooting, stabbing, something "simple" like that), the resurrection process is for some unknown reason much more prolonged and horrible.

I'm picturing Nicky as the one who dies and Joe as the one having to deal with the bad resurrection, with lots of comfort to try and make up for the unusual amount of hurt.

Modern AU where Andy, Nile, Booker and Joe work in a restaurant together. One day a guy comes in and everyone can see that the guy (Nicky) is on a very bad blind date

+Andy keeps encouraging Joe to go save the cute guy from the asshole before she does something herself because Joe is chicken

++Nile is the cute guy's waiter and she relays details back to everyone else- cute guy's date keeps getting his name wrong (she overheard cute guy tell his date his name was Nicolo or Nicky not whatever asshole had said)

+++When Booker takes.over as waiter for Nile, Booker immediately needs to cut asshole guy off so the poor Nicky guy can even get a word in

++++ Asshole guy dips, leaving this Nicky guy with an extremely expensive check so Andy, Nile and Booker sit Joe down. In the seat across from Nicky and tell them to enjoy their date

Because Luca Marinelli in Lo chiamavano jeeg robot has ruined my life: In their down time at some point in the 80s, Nicky has a glam rock phase and performs his heart out, glittery jacket, eyeliner, heels and all. Post-show, either Nicky almost fully dressed in That outfit fucking Joe over the backstage dressing room table, or Joe fucking Nicky who is wearing nothing but the heels.

In a happy team future, sometimes when they have a bit of downtime, Joe ties Nicky’s arms to the bed, blindfolds him, and sits in an armchair while the team one-by-one come in and do whatever they want with Nicky (within his already established limits). After everyone has had a turn including Joe, the whole team helps with aftercare.

Bonus points if Nicky isn’t always sure who is with him.

Drugged by bad guys, weird immortal heat, whatever works, but basically Nicky’s the only one who gets it. It gets so intense that Joe, despite his best efforts, can’t satisfy him alone, so the team helps out.

+I’d like Booker to be involved, but that can mean either pre-movie or in some hypothetical future where he’s back with them.

++At some point Andy laments the fact that they don’t have a strap-on handy (...unless they do???), but she’s still pretty good with her hands.

As a priest, Nicky found peace and purpose in the idea of belonging to God, submitting completely and totally to God’s will. Sometimes he still likes to feel like that, so every so often during downtime where he submits to Joe completely. Whether that means “Nicky spends all day on his knees with Joe’s cock in his mouth” or “Nicky takes a nap because Joe knows he hasn’t been getting enough sleep lately”, all Nicky has to do on days like that is what Joe tells him.

In order to get them to leave Nile alone, Nicky says that surely they'd rather have him. After all, he's got centuries of experience behind him and he can make it good for them.

They take Nicky out of the cage and Horrible Things (tm) happen.

When the rescue happens, Nile feels guilty because Nicky did that to save her, and Nicky feels guilty because it feels like he cheated on Joe. And then all of the comfort.

According to Copley's research, Nicky and Joe were in the Pacific theatre during WW2. It is well documented that there was a LOT of a gay sex happening around that time (particularly between Australians and Americans). I'd love a fic where Nicky and Joe have furtive, sweaty, frantic sex in the jungle, surrounded in the dark by the moans of the other GIs inspired by their actions.
