I saw a thread on reddit, talking about a lady who mistakenly left her dog at a pet friendly office, thinking it was the dog hotel. Those in the office said nothing and the lady continued taking her dog there. In the end she realized it but they kept doing it.
I would love something like that but with Joe / Nicky, where they fall in love in the end, you know, simple things.

Quynh & Nicky friendship. Merman Nicolo finds Quynh in the ocean

Nicolo is a merman who lives a lonely and rather dull life. Most other merfolk are gone and he doesn't trust humans, two facts which are sadly connected. So he keeps to himself as much as possible, and doesn't go looking for adventure because often that's gotten his people into trouble. Then one day he finds a human woman trapped in an iron box at the bottom of the sea, who keeps dying and not dying. He frees her and together they go looking for her strange family.

+ Some years have passed since Quynh was thrown into the sea, but not very much time. Andromache and Yusuf are still looking for her
+ Nicolo is the kind of merperson who can shift and walk on land, but not for a long time and not far away from water. So they travel together on land too.
+ Nicolo teaching Quynh merfolk sign language!
+ Once they find Andy and Yusuf, Quynh asks Nicolo if he wants to stay with them. Nicky, who's privately heartbroken at the thought of going back to his lonely life after this, readily agrees
+ Alternating Quynh & Nicolo's POVs would be *chef finger kiss*

(This can absolutely turn into Yusuf/Nicolo if you want, but I'd love the focus to be on Quynh and Nicolo's friendship)

Maybe the whole team goes out, maybe its just the two youngest members. booker and nile have been trying to ignore the building tension between the themselves and after a few drinks they forget why they were kinda pointedly not dancing WITH eachother. things get heated and they're too impatient to even get to a bathroom stall, cuz fuck it we dont know anyone here/the others have done worse

When Booker joined them, Joe and Nicky sat him down and spelled out the extent of their relationship to him: they're in love, they sleep in the same bed, cuddle, kiss, call each other pet names - yes, they also fuck, but they don't plan to do so where he can see them, thank you very much.

Everything else is fair game. They will be considerate and give him time to adjust but they will *not* stop being affectionate in private because he is there. They have to be circumspect enough in public, they are not going to hide when it's family only and hey, the more exposure he gets the sooner it will seem normal.

If he has a problem with displays of affection that wouldn't elicit a second glance if one of them were a woman, he's welcome to go for a walk.

Bonus:
- Nicky and Joe are so good at being stealthy and/or quick Booker didn't walk in on them fucking until after World War I (and he didn't even particularly mind because WWI was a Bad Time for all. Maybe it was even strangely reassuring)
- Booker gently teasing them about it ("I was starting to worry for the state of your marriage!")

Strictly Friend!Booker only, no Joe/Nicky/Booker, no Booker being in unrequired love with either or both of them.

I *love* this idea, and would really like to see it for Nile and Booker, with the obvious twist that they both became immortal centuries earlier than they did in the movie. Basically a Nicky/Joe situation where they’ve been together for a millennium, are completely secure in their relationship, but haven’t always been able to be together publicly. How have they found ways to express affection without others noticing? (Or have others noticed?) Do they have spots they steal away to, to be together? Are there countries they prefer to live in, because attitudes are more lax, or places they get trapped in? What are their coping strategies like?

+ Bonus for exploring how they feel when they can finally be affectionate in public, get married, etc.

Any POV--outsider, Nile, or Booker, or--best of all--a mix of all three!--works for me.
