So a lot of fic is about Nicolò being very innocent and clueless because he was a priest.

Consider: medieval ideas of what is considered sodomy were very different from ours and there is no better place to have plenty of gay sex than a monastery.

Nicolò absolutely has been banging guys (perhaps strictly adhering to no anal, but everything else goes - intercrural especially). To Nicolò sex is just something you do with a friend, like sharing a meal or a bedroll. And he and Yusuf are friends.

Yusuf however is an incurable romantic and inexperienced because he's never found "the one" (plus the time period issue).

When Nicolò casually proposes sex or one thing leads to another, Yusuf thinks it's basically a wedding proposal. Nicolò doesn't get it. Until he does of course.

I'm super fine with just the main scene where their different ideas of casual sex and romance become apparent. I know it's a happy end.
