Ahh yes... im honestly surprised there arent more aus where they have powers since they technically do in canon. These guys as super heroes would be so awesome. Im on a xmen kick rn so id prefer them to be some kind of mutant, but any superhero/power au thing works for me! Modern AU in which Nicky and Joe work for a gym as a yoga instructor and training coach respectively. Keane is the instructor hired for the new self defense program that the gym offers. Nicky has the hots for him and Joe loves teasing him about it.

For his first demo, Keane asks for a volunteer. Joe is about to start a session of his own, but helpfully points out that Nicky just finished with his class.

Turns out, the guys watching them are cops. They tell him that Nicky's dad is the boss of a dangerous Mafia clan. They're after Nicky's family and think that he's involoved in the "family business", too... after all, Joe had seen Nicky go to a range sometimes and he knows he's a damn good sniper...

Nicky doesn't die nor meet Joe during the crusades. He becomes immortal later and somehow, doesn't meet the rest of the group.

When he is captured and starts being experimented on, he is alone, lost, filled with shame and ~~catholic~~ guilt. So when the "doctors" tell him it is for the best of humanity, Nicky quickly starts to believe it, believes that this is the only way for him to atone for his sins, and that his own life and pain is irrelevant compared to the good they could do.

When the others get him out, they find a problem they weren't expecting: Nicky doesn't want to leave and/or actively wants to go back.

Note: While he is convinces he must submit himself to science, Nicky would not find the situation normal if anyone else were concerned.

Bonus: Nicky tries to keep his distances from Joe, which Joe thinks may be due to islamophobia, but really is because Nicky finds Joe the most beautiful man he ever saw, with kindness overflowing from him, making him the hardest temptation he ever had to resist.

I was rewatching Blade Runner 2049 and started thinking of a Joe/Nicky AU with Joe as K and Nicky as Joi...

For those who haven't watched the film, Joe is a Blade Runner who hunts down rogue replicants (bioengineered humans used as slave labour). Nicky is an artificial holographic AI that Joe buys to be his companion. Nicky's AI program is actually widely available and is made to be a live-in romantic companion for anyone who buys him.

Joe falls in love with Nicky and Nicky loves him back (but how "real" is their relationship given that Nicky is literally created to love him?)

If the story follows the movie, then Joe believes he is not just a replicant and he sets out to find out what really happened to him with Nicky's help.

Or you can just take the idea of Joe as a Blade Runner and Nicky as his AI boyfriend and have lots of angst over how Nicky can never be a real person...or can he? (insert futuristic solution here - maybe Joe commissions a replicant of his own who looks exactly like Nicky and transfers Nicky's AI consciousness into him and it becomes a sort of sci-fi Pygmalion situation?)

Look, it’s super cold where I live and I just want some happy wintry found family times with the Guard. Anything welcome, basically, but please consider these possibilities:

- Andy’s an absolutely amazing skier (like crazy, only goes on the hardest runs and half the time goes off the trail) but she’s very patient with teaching Quynh how to ski

Everyone is a little surprised when king Yusuf takes Nicolo, a seemingly unremarkable man of modest origins, as his concubine. I can't believe that over the centuries only the bad guys witnessed TOG's immortality. There must have been "good" guys too, and innocent civilians they rescued, who sometimes saw them wake up after they had been killed. People who didn't immediately scream "witchcraft!" and weren't afraid of them (becaus TOG just saved them).
So there must be stories. Told by soldiers and others. Every tavern has that one drunkard who claims to have met TOG. Of course, nobody believes him, but he's a pretty good story-teller, so they like listening to him telling his tales. About a group of 4 immortal warriors, who come to your rescue when you desperately need it. Who save innocent people, help soldiers in need etc. Like some fable told by soldiers to soldiers, with a moral of the story to never harm innocents and TOG will help you if you're in need, but if you do harm innocents, TOG will end you. Every soldier around the world has heard one version of that story or another (no matter if they believe it or not).
I would love some outsider POV. Or maybe some bad guys pretending to be TOG so they can extort people, and the real Old Guard put an end to it (they have to think of their reputation, after all 😁). Or Nile having heard those stories and realizing - huh, you're TOG. Holy sh*, I'M TOG now! o.O

Okay, for one reason or another Joe is not in the safe house when Keane's men attack. Problem is, it was really way too soon to get past all their issues, Nicky’s still carrying around a metric ton of guilt, and they just don’t know each other well enough, and they amicably break up after a few years.

It’s fine, really. They can definitely just be friends and travel companions on their way to go find those women they keep dreaming about.
