Could be au, could be undercover for a mission, or maybe they had to use a new guy for the fake ids and the new identities had warrants for them.

Sometime in the past (I'm thinking before 1900) the gang had to go undercover for a really long time for some reason. During this time one of the guys made too good of an impression on the people they are trying to fool and during the mission he has to avoid getting married to their marks daughter without jeopardizing their mission. He also really wants to get some quality time with the love of his life who is both amused and a bit bothered by the situation. Turns out dodging a betrothal while completing the mission and sneaking kisses from the man you love is very hard work.

I need Booker and Nicky bonding. I have read so many stories where Joe and Booker have a great relationship but very few where Booker and Nicky are really close.

Nicolo has little to no experience with sex or romance. But he knows Yusuf has had several flings and partners and seems to only take an interest in experienced people. This Nicolo is sure means Yusuf would not want him. So to gain experience (at least some sexual experience) and hopefully make it so Yusuf might one day consider at least bedding Nicolo if nothing else, Nicolo tries to learn what he can about sex and romance. This he does both by flirting and having sex with some people that flirt with him during their travels and by talking about it (to learn some tips) with the sex workers that he met and helped with something a few times.

Yusuf is miserable because he was thinking Nicolo wanted nothing to do with sex or romance at all. But maybe Nicolo just wanted nothing to do with anything romantic with Yusuf? Why else would he be sneaking off with the baker of the village they are staying in? He turned Yusuf down when he tried flirting with Nicolo in the past.

(Nicolo did not turn Yusuf down, Yusuf was just being way too subtle, like a flirting ninja!).

5 times one or both faced homophobia but could do little to nothing about it and 1 time they got to finally do something about it.

Prince Yusuf is sent by his parents, the king and queen of a powerful kingdom, to a neighboring kingdom to deal in diplomatic relations and what not. During his stay the king offers his personal bed slave, Nicolo, to warm Yuauf’s bed as a form of courtesy. Yusuf is horrified because slavery (especially of sexual nature) has long been outlawed where he is from. But over the course of his stay Prince Yusuf becomes enamored with the slave, who isn’t just beautiful to look at but also intelligent, well spoken and kind. Yusuf finds out from the king that Nicolo was freeborn, a former priest that the king simply abducted due to his beauty. This enrages Yusuf. He hatches a plan to smuggle Nicolo back to his kingdom, and is successful - until the king finds out and threatens to wage war over it, considering Nicolo to be one of his most prized possessions.

Cue the fallout with Yusuf’s parents, enraged at their son for having jeopardized their kingdom over a common bed slave. And Yusuf convincing his parents Nicolo isn’t just any bed slave - and maybe they shouldn’t be having diplomatic relations with a country that practices slavery anyway? Also Nicolo adapting to his new life - maybe feeling indebted to Yusuf and offering himself up as a thank you? And Yusuf being like no, you don’t have to do that anymore (although he REALLY wants nothing more than to take Nicolo apart, to show him how tender lovemaking can be).

There has always been rivalry between Quynh and Yusuf over Nicolos attention over the years. Quynh wants to spend a lot of time with her new best friend and student and Yusuf wants the same with his lover and partner. The jealousy and pettiness leading more than one funny story to tell future immortals. Nicolo and Andromache being amused and exasperated the whole time.

Nicolo didn't join the crusades to fight, he was given by his father to one of the generals as a gift or payment of a debt. The soldiers saw him as little more than a whore.

Yusuf meets Nicolo when he tries to escape the christian camp.

The immortals are not sterile, they know this because Nicky keeps getting pregnant.

It seems it's really hard for them to get kids though, they know this because Nicky keeps losing the babies.

Modern day contraceptives have helped Nicky and Joe a lot and prevented any more heartbreak for over a century until Dr Kozak decides to see if she can create a whole new immortal.

Over the hundreds of years, Joe and/or Nicky have to have seen their weight fluctuate significantly. Maybe they’ve gone through phases where they were rail thin because food was hard to come by (or cuisine at the time was just not to their taste!), times that they were nothing but muscle because they had been on one difficult mission after another, and other times where they were settled in Malta for a few relaxing years and had plenty of delicious things to eat and carried a bit more weight. The great thing is that they love each other and each other’s bodies no matter what they look like.

Inspired by prompt above and the original 100 years sleep of the story.
For whatever reason, magic or science, a curse or something he choose himself to do, Nicky ends up in a magical sleep/weird coma/frozen/other.
For another plot reason, Joe can not wake him until a 100 years have passed.
Sure he is immortal, so at least he knows he should be able to wake Nicky, but the years are still taking their toll on him. How does Joe and the team deal? Does he also have to protect Nicky's body while he sleeps? Or is he enable to see Nicky at all?

A century of angst and the moment it is finally over and Nicky awakes.

It takes Nile an embarrassingly long time to realize Nicky and Joe are almost always trolling someone or sometimes everyone.

Five times Nile got to see Nicky and Joe argue about stuff they have been arguing about for centuries. Like maybe Joe is terrible at taking care of his clothes and mending them and just buys new ones instead. Or maybe Nicky always puts Joe's pens in places where Joe can't find them, like why would anyone put pens in the same case as the knives? Or something similar.

And then one time Nile sees them both being in total agreement that it was all Andy's fault

They have a special house in Malta, it's their favorite so the go there more often than they probably should.

They don't know that the whole village see them as these almost like fairy tale beings that being good luck and prosperity to the village. All the villagers are very careful about protecting Joe's and Nickys secret and absolutely no one is buying the stories about one of them being the on/grandson to someone who used to live there and own the house.

They are seen as protectors and family/friends to all and the people in the village are all very protective over them. Several stories about them are passed on from the older men and women who remember them from one of their earlier stays.

So when a strange woman (Kozak) comes around asking questions the people of the village make sure she won't be bothering their Nicky and Joe again

Andy feels deeply, but she’s not a natural romantic—but for her lover, she’s willing to try.

Basically: it’s almost impossible for me to imagine Andy doing super romantic stuff (picture the most cliche anniversary surprise or Valentine’s Day) but I like to think she would like to make an effort at least every once in a while.

I’m looking for humour and a bit of sweetness—once Andy gets the idea to try and spoil her lover, she’s dedicated to the cause. Andy doing research online in clickbait magazines, asking Joe for help, asking random shopkeepers for help, accidentally burning dinner or other mishaps, etc! In the end, even if everything isn’t perfect, her beloved (fine with either Quynh or Nile) greatly appreciates what she tried to do.

Bonus: One of the reasons for their sleeping positions is because that way Joe can stay inside Nicky all night long, getting hard over and over again, until finally he falls asleep, still inside Nicky.

Extra Bonus: Nicky isn't exactly small either, definitely on the large end of average. But everyone looks small compared to Joe. Which is why Nicky has a screwed sense of what is "big" in the dick department. So when he's shown some porn with "big dicks" for some reason he's like "Meh. That's supposed to be big?"

Joe is involved in organized crime (think marwan kenzari in Wolf) and is a high ranking member of a prolific crime family (maybe with the rest of the old guard - with the exception of nicky), and they’re currently in the middle of a very intense turf war with a rival family. one night after a much needed break, he meets a beautiful man at a bar sitting alone by himself. he’s sweet and kind and looks at joe like he’s the sun. they hook up and joe finds himself drawn to the man, who he learns name is nicky, and they regularly begin to see each other. After several more dates, joe realizes he is being followed and is later confronted by the mob boss of the rival crime family because whoops - that man joe hooked up with from the bar is actually his son.

+10 if Nicky isn’t involved in the family business at ALL and that’s why Joe had no idea who he is. Like he’s not disowned but he just chooses not to pursue crime
+100 if Nicky has a completely innocent occupation. Maybe he’s a phd student, maybe he owns a bakery (that doesn’t launder money or anything like that), maybe he’s a kindergarten teacher
+1000 Nicky’s father loves him very much and their relationship is hanging by a very loose thread. If his dad kills joe nicky will literally NEVER forgive him
+10000 if joe uses this to his advantage and is such a little shit about it too. When nicky’s dad finds out about joe initially he has him thrown in the back of a van and threatened but joe is completely unbothered and just DARES him to kill him
+100000 heavy implications that other people nicky used to date went missing, maybe they weren’t offed but they were paid off to never speak to nicky again (part of the reason Nicky hates his dad so much)

Joe's family hate his boyfriend Nicky. Everything Nicky is or does is wrong to them and he can never change their opinions about him.

Nicky sees what this is doing to Joe who adores his family. But Joe does not see or hear all the things his family does to Nicky, like telling him Joe could do better, calling Nicky ugly or telling him he should leave Joe and not keep him tied to someone like Nicky. So to spare Joe more pain and because the family has really made him see himself as unworthy of Joe, Nicky breaks up with him.

He tells Joe it's for some other reason because he doesn't want Joe to feel like he is making an ultimatum or something like it.

It takes a long time for Joe to figure out the truth about their break-up. Do they get back together again? Will Joe's family start accepting Nicky? Or does Joe turn his back in them?
