Masina DiGenova is a retired teacher that runs her own unofficial afterschool club; underprivileged kids from the neighbourhood come to her house to have a snack and get some help with homework, some stay for dinner, some take showers and do laundry because they don't have hot water/washing machines at home. She really makes a difference for them, especially the queer teens, to whom she talks a lot about her wonderful grandson Nicky. One day she breaks her hip or something, and Nicky moves in with her to take care of her, and he finds himself putting a lot of work for the kids, helping them with homework, repairing bikes, teaching them to cook and other life skills etc. After a couple of months tho someone in the neighbourhood get pissy about a gay man spending lots of time with children and teens, and calls for the authorities to check the situation. There comes Joe, the social worker (or whatever would be his role) sent to check Nicky as a potential pedophile grooming the local youth...
