Joe's a famous actor. Nicky's an Italian pop star that has broken into the american/british (depends on where the fic could be set?) market. He doesn't have the best reputation - always late to interviews, not the most talkative, etc...
Joe signs onto a dream movie he's always wanted to without knowing who he's going to be costaring with. He finds out that Nicky has been signed on, and is not particularly happy with the choice. A bratty Italian pop star who has no acting experience?? On Joe's dream project??? Not cool.
But Joe resolves to be civil and grit his teeth through the inevitable shitshow the movie set is going to be. However, Nicky turns up, and first day on set blows everyone away with his acting. He's also ridiculously lovely and sweet to everyone, from the director down to the PAs, and while at first Joe is not convinced, he soon comes to the realisation that Nicky is actually as amazing as he presents himself on set. And then it's a slippery slope to the next realisation that Joe might kind of be falling in love with his costar on set.
+1 for Nicky having watched all of Joe's movies and having a huge crush on him from the start +10 Quynh is the director and watches as Joe and Nicky start gravitating towards each other on set and cackles internally that her plan is coming together very nicely and she was so right about their chemistry +100 the reason why Nicky had a bad reputation was from a few first interviews he had where he was nervous about his English and didn't want to speak much, and then the media ran with him being a diva who thought he was too good to speak to interviewers because it was drama and sold well +1000 the movie is A Star Is Born with Joe as Jack and Nicky as a male Ally/Allister (the nose scene omg)
