However, consider: Joe and Nicky are on opposing sides of a war, and they fall in love. Where are all the bodice-ripper clichés? Sneaking over to see each other in the dead of night? Tension-laden conversations in conveniently deserted locations? Crazy hot forbidden sex? Lying to their comrades that there's nothing between them? Running away together?
I would give my left arm for a relationship reveal fic in this scenario.
