I've just read something about Buffy and the episode with the vengeance demon, where Cordelia makes a wish and the world becomes terribly wrong? Which made me think of this prompt, with Booker, depressed and drunk, through a conversation ending up making the wish "that Joe and Nicky didn't always have each other". It makes everything absolutely awful.
It can be with the actual demon from Buffy, a djinn, hey even with evil genie Jafar if you want, as long as there's the wish ending bad with Booker who didn't really mean it and must fix it.
