Modern AU. Joe and Nicky are happily married. A little too happily for the liking of Joe’s coworker (I’m going to say Joe but I’m totally fine with roles being reversed). The coworker has a major crush on Joe and goes out of his/her way to make it look like Joe is cheating— leaving borderline suggestive notes and messages, sending Nicky “anonymous” messages that he’s naive and blind to his husband’s philandering nature, calling at odd hours of the evening, whatever. It’s relentless but the coworker avoids doing anything directly traceable/actionable and so it keeps happening.
Joe and Nicky are both rock solid loyal, but the evil coworker manages to hit on a deep insecurity of Nicky’s and he has a moment of doubt, which absolutely crushes Joe. Lots of angst with happy ending please?
