Modern AU where Andy lives in an apartment building. Joe, Nile, Booker and Quhyn are her friends who come over for game night. Nicky is Andy's new neighbor who she doesn't see a lot but he's nice enough- Andy even says she might invite him to game night because she doesn't see him with any friends except for some asshole named Keane who she thinks is Nicky's boyfriend
+Andy kinda becomes friends with Nicky because he makes really good baklava but he's always so quiet and reserved when she goes to his apartment to give back the tupperwares and she's seen his boyfriend skulking around. Fr time to time she's heard yelling but when she goes over to check on Nicky he insists everything is okay
++During game night, Booker, Joe, Nile and Quhyn hear a screaming match. Andy just bangs on the wall and yells at them to keep it down, thinking it's nothing. Except, an hour later, they hear more yelling followed by things breaking and Andy thinks she hears Nicky crying his boyfriend is screaming obscenities about Nicky cheating on him with that Andy chick (which are entirely untrue as she's dating Quhyn)
+++They go next door when the fighting gets louder and they kick down the door to her neighbor's apartment to find Keane throwing dishes and trashing the apartment and Nicky is on the floor cowering against the fridge pleading with Keane in Italian- there's bruising on his face and neck and blood coming from his nose and lip- Joe steps between them and stays with Nicky while Quyhn , Booker and Nile try to restrain Keane so Andy can call for help
No immediate Joe/Nicky but maybe a few years or so later when Nicky feels he's ready to be in a relationship again (because trauma doesn't automatically heal overnight) he's dating Joe and more open and Andy can consider him one of her real friends and not just the quiet man who lived in the apartment next door
