Nicolò is the inexperienced one in the matters of love and sex, so he relies heavily on Yusuf to guide him through their budding relationship. He’s still conflicted about it though and doesn’t understand how two men can love each other. Bible says Adam and Eve, man and wife, that’s the natural order of things. He starts to take up a role of “the woman” in the relationship, as in, what he believes a wife should be; cooks, cleans, saws, is subservient and obedient and submissive in bed. He hates it though, he’s not a woman, he’s not a wife but he wants to please both Yusuf and God.
He has a little nervous break down over not being good enough of a woman for Yusuf and only then Yusuf realises what’s happening with his beloved and tries to fix it.
Bonus points if Yusuf unwittingly adds to Nicolò’s confusion, like by joking he’d make a good wife when Nicolò cooks a nice meal or insists on always topping, due to his own believes.
Bonus 2: The crisis is partially solved - as all crises should be - by Nicolò topping for the first time
