Even though Booker’s in exile, Nicky still sends him postcards from everywhere the squad goes. He doesn’t hide it from Joe (he could never hide anything from Joe), but Joe initially chooses to ignore it.

Then after his anger cools a bit, Joe starts picking out postcards and giving them to Nicky to use. One day he finally writes his own.

AU where instead of Joe and Nicky finding each other, it's Nicky and Andy first. And then they start having dreams of a new immortal and it's clear from their dreams that he basically got fucked to death. As they desperately race to find him (you know, as quickly as one can get anywhere in the world in whatever long ago century you want this to be set in) they have more dreams of him getting fucked and tortured to death, over and over, because as his healing abilities are discovered he becomes a prize at the brothel, fetching extremely high prices from people who would pay anything to be able to to do incredibly sadistic acts that would normally kill someone.

They finally get to him and rescue him, and then it's a long road to getting him to trust them, over the course of which he and Nicky fall in love, natch. This idea sounds like it can be a really long fic but if you prefer to write something short, the sexual torture at the beginning can be just fragmented snapshots as Andy and Nicky cross the steppes or whatever. I would really like to at least see the rescue and the beginning of establishing trust at least, even if we don't get to see him fully integrated into the team. That's the payoff.

Optional, if you're into it: Joe and Quynh could be immortals who find/meet each other in the horrible sadistic brothel where Quynh is also kept prisoner.

After centuries together, the team must have an insane level of comfort around each other. So if Nicky & Joe wake up and indulge in some morning sex while Andy and Booker are in the room, it's no big deal.

Sometimes Andy will roll her eyes and throw a box of tissues at their heads when they finish. Or she'll catch Joe's eye while she's eating breakfast and just be like "Joe. We have a meeting in 45 minutes; let him come already." (To which Joe will grumble but comply and Nicky-- who Joe's been keeping on the edge for like an hour-- will suck in just enough breath to groan out a 'thanks boss' before losing it.)

Booker mostly ignores them, but when he's in a good mood he'll gamble with Andy over who's gonna come first, or they'll play drinking games like 'take a swig every time they switch languages' or 'two drinks any time they invoke the name of a deity.'

Post-film, Alpha/Omega au where Alpha!Joe and Omega!Nicky have been together for the same 950 years, but due to the immortality Nicky cannot get pregnant, which they are fine with. However after the Merrick debacle Nicky starts getting odd symptoms-due to the experiments in the lab it somehow got reversed-and it takes Omega!Nile to connect the dots.
