In a modern, mortal AU, Joe has always been slow to reach orgasm. Exes and hookups have made him feel bad about it. It’s too much work. There isn’t enough time. Can’t he just deal with it himself? What’s wrong with him that he’s like this? Etc. And at least one ex used it as an excuse after being caught cheating. The stress and misplaced guilt turns a physiological quirk into a near impossibility, and it’s become a terrible cycle.

Now Joe has this budding relationship with Nicky. They’re moving slowly and Joe is absolutely smitten, but the next step has to be coming soon and he’s terrified that he will let Nicky down too.

Nicky, of course, is understanding. He loves Joe no matter what, but when Joe eventually wants to try, Nicky is patient and really gets into the drawn out sex, especially when he gets to see Joe relax and finally come for him.
