Fills Post

This Fills Post is now closed to new fills. New fills should go in Fills Post #2. For those of you who are in the process of posting multi-chapter WIPs, please post subsequent chapters in the new Fills Post but include a link to the previous chapters so that those who haven't been following the story from the beginning can easily find the first part(s).

Remember:

Fills can but don't need to be anonymous.

Start a new comment for each fill. Don't use threaded comments for new fills. Threaded comments are for fills that take up more than one comment field, or for feedback/squee/praise.

In your fill, please mention the prompt you are responding to, and provide a link to the prompt in the body of the text.

Please use a header with your character(s)/pairing and a title and/or keyword or short phrase. (For example: "Just you and me: Andy/Quynh, Make-up sex" or "Between a Rock and A Hard Place: Nicky/Joe/Booker, first time DP").

Please also comment with a link to your fill in the prompt post, under the prompt you are responding to. Your comment header should include the word "Fill" or "Filled", so that those checking out the thread can find your fic/art more easily (For example: "FILL: Re: Any/Quynh, Make-up sex").

If you end up cleaning up your fill and posting it elsewhere (AO3, your personal journal), feel free to link the posted fic/art here as well.

They would never find out if Andy would have allowed herself to open up to Nile, because one morning Nile woke up, gasping as if she was choking. “Quynh—“ she gasped out, and even in the half light Nicky could see the way that Andy’s whole body clenched, steeling herself for what was coming. “Is she dead?” She asked in a soft voice, looking away from them.

“No, no,” Nile assured her quickly. “I saw her—she’s out of the water, she’s on a boat somewhere and—“ she hesitated, not sure whether to mention this part—“she has Booker.”

Andy was white as a sheet, looked as if she might be violently sick any moment, but she still managed to make the arrangements, to ask Nile enough details about her dream to pinpoint where their wayward teammates were. She worked through the night planning, and Joe laid a gentle hand on her shoulder just before dawn. “Get some rest, boss, I’ll finish up the preparations.” He swallowed, thinking. They might not be together any longer, but he still cared deeply for her, and to see her in such pain was agony. “It’ll be alright, boss. We’ll make sure Booker is okay and...we’ll bring her home.”

Andy shivered, a full body shake that made it clear just how much she was barely holding it together, and when she looked up at Joe he was alarmed that her eyes were glistening with tears she refused to let fall. “What if she doesn’t want to come home, Joe? She must hate me, I promised her forever and then I gave up on her, I should have looked harder, I could have done more, I should have sifted through the entire ocean for her—“

Joe pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, wrapping his arms around her in an embrace he rarely allowed himself to indulge in because it was too easy to bring back memories of the old days. “Andy...I cannot imagine a universe in which Quynh does not love you so utterly and profoundly that she would not forgive you any imagined slight.” As I love you, he thought with that familiar ache in his chest. And as Nicky loves you, still, even after all these years of longing for you, even when you were right beside us.

When they boarded the boat, they left Quynh to Andy while the rest of them dealt with Quynh’s hired guards, went to find Booker and free him from his chains. Joe felt his heart break a little when Booker looked up at him, tear tracks clear on his face, his lip still bitten clean through which meant they had been trying to get information out of him recently. “I didn’t tell her where you are,” Booker said, pleading with Joe to believe him. “I told her that you all wouldn’t come for me, that I wasn’t worth anything to you anymore,” and oh, that hurt. “Booker,” Nicky said sternly. “You may occasionally be a stupid bastard who doesn’t think through what he’s doing, but you’re our stupid bastard, and we’ll always come for you.”

Booker looked as if he wanted to argue, but they heard a yell of pain and they knew it was Andy crying out, and everything else was forgotten in order to rush to her. She was locked in a vicious battle with Quynh, a fresh gash clearly visible on her shoulder. Joe stepped forward to help her, but Andy shook her head. “Let me handle this,” she said through gritted teeth, wheeling around to parry Quynh’s next move.

They fought like they had fucked, once, perfectly in sync, like a dance that only they knew the steps to. “You left me to suffer alone, you forgot about me,” Quynh said bitterly, her sword locking with Andy’s labrys, and the older woman shook her head vehemently, her hair falling into her eyes. “I could never forget you, you took my heart and every time you drowned, it drowned with you.” She had wiggled her axe free and struck at Quynh again, but Joe could see, now, that they were both pulling their punches. Both of them could fight far better than this, he knew, and they were merely going through the motions now, exorcising five hundred years of agony.

“Every day, Quynh, every day you were the first in my thoughts in the morning and the last at night. Every day I wished that I could take your place, I tried to bargain with the universe. I would have sold anyone and everything and whatever scraps of my soul are left if only I could have freed you from your suffering, I swear, Quynh, I swear,” Andy gasped out as she matched Quynh’s moves perfectly—until suddenly she didn’t, and Quynh managed to trip her.

Andy landed on the floor with a groan as her injured shoulder made contact with the wood, and Quynh was on her in an instant, the tip of her blade at Andy’s throat, and Joe was already opening his mouth to warn her that Andy was mortal now, because no matter how furious Quynh was, he knew enough to know that she would not want to lose Andy forever, but he caught the look on Quynh’s face as she gazed down at her longtime lover and it was clear that she didn’t intend to strike. “Goddamn you, Andy,” she grumbled. “I want to hate you so badly, but I still love you so fucking much,” and then she was throwing her sword aside and leaning down to kiss Andy.

It would be difficult to pour enough passion into a kiss to make up for hundreds of lost years, but the two of them seemed to be making a valiant attempt, and Joe and Nicky couldn’t help sharing a smile. It hurt, a bit, that they were no longer included, but the sight of Andy and Quynh pressing desperately into each other was still one they had nearly despaired of ever seeing again.

Booker whistled in amazement and no small amount of arousal, while Nile just nodded, slowly. “Well, that explains a lot,” she remarked, and nobody was surprised when Quynh got up in a hurry, offering Andy a hand and pulling her off to the boat’s master suite to make up for lost time, while the rest of them studiously pretended they didn’t hear the moans and cries that filtered through the thin walls.

It was only later, when Quynh and Andy emerged from the master bedroom, looking exhausted but thrilled, that it all blew up in their faces. Quynh came over to where Joe and Nicky were curled up together on the couch in the yacht’s little living room, and kissed each of them tenderly, first Joe and then Nicky, and oh, this was going to cause some problems, but neither of them had the strength to stop themselves from kissing her back, not when they had dreamed of this moment for centuries. “I’m sorry, my loves,” Quynh murmured. “I’ve been neglecting you,” and she slid one of her hands into each of theirs, squeezing lightly, and they had a half a minute of blissful peace before Nile erupted. “Sorry, what?!” and Joe winced. There was no way this conversation wasn’t going to be painful for everyone involved.

Quynh turned to look at her, plainly confused at the new girl’s confusion. “Back before I was captured, I was together with Joe and Nicky, just as Andy is,” she explained, and Nile’s eyes only widened further.

“Was,” Andy said quietly, and Quynh’s gaze flicked around the room in astonishment as she saw the same naked pain on all three of her lovers’ faces.

Quynh slipped her hands out of Joe and Nicky’s, patting reassuringly. “Andromache,” she said, voice like steel. “Bedroom. Now.” Andy went without complaint, the quiet peaceful look that she had been sporting since Quynh had kissed her for the first time completely gone.

Once they had shut the door, Joe sighed, knowing that he owed a very confused Nile and Booker some explanations. “It’s true,” he admitted. “We were all lovers, the four of us, until Quynh was captured. The grief nearly broke us, but I thought—I thought we were slowly healing,” he told them, and fuck, it didn’t get any less painful to talk about even after so long. “Then Andy broke up with us, and my Nicolo and I learned how to be happy just the two of us. At first we thought that Andy might come back to us after some time away, but...well. We’re glad to still have her as our friend—“ a horrible thought came over him, and he buried his face in his hands. “If she still wants to be our friend, now. Maybe she will want to spend the rest of her life alone with Quynh,” and he sounded so miserable that both Nicky and Nile wrapped their arms around him.

“Man,” Booker said wistfully, staring into his glass of seltzer water like he used to contemplate his whiskey. “I clearly picked the wrong century to die in, I missed out on the immortal poly pile.”

Nicky managed a weak chuckle. “This is spectacularly bad timing, I’m aware, but you should know that we didn’t forget about you. Before you, well, did what you did, Joe and I were planning to ask you to join us.”

“Me? Really?” and Booker looked so adorably excited for a moment before he got that tragic kicked-puppy look he was so good at. “I probably fucked it all up now, didn’t I? You won’t trust me or want me anymore after what I did, I understand.”

Joe dragged himself out of his own misery to pat Booker’s shoulder. “We’re working on it, Book. What you did was inexcusable, and you’re right, it’s hard to trust you right away like we used to. But we still care about you, and we missed you a lot when you weren’t with us. We’ll find our way back to each other.” He gave Nile, who was still rubbing circles into his tense shoulders, a fond look. “That invitation goes for you too, if you’re ever interested.”

Nile looked both surprised and extremely interested, but before they could continue, Andy and Quynh came back in. Quynh looked satisfied, which Joe tried to tell himself was a good sign, while Andy was studiously looking everywhere but directly at Joe and Nicky. “I...” she bit her lip, as if she wasn’t sure where to begin. “When we met up in Rome, after that long break, I was going to tell you I was ready to try again with just the three of us, was going to ask you to take me back if you still wanted me. But then, well.” She scuffed the floor with her foot. “I saw you two before you saw me. You were sitting by the river, Nicky half in your lap, Joe, and you seemed so in love and in a better place than when I had seen you last, and you had developed a language all your own, and I...I thought that you would be happier without a jaded old woman like me getting in your way.”

Quynh reached over to take Andy’s hand, squeezing it in support, and Andy shot her a grateful look. “It has been...brought to my attention that maybe I was wrong.” Joe made a wounded sound, and then he couldn’t move fast enough, went to kneel in front of Andy and hold her free hand. “Andy, look at me,” he begged, and she looked down at him, and he could see the faint, desperate hope on her face. “Andy, I cannot speak for Nicky, but I think that my heart and I are of one mind on this, and I never, ever stopped loving you and wanting you.” Her fingers closed around his hand, holding onto him like a lifeline. “Yes, Nicky and I rebuilt our lives and found happiness again, and our own love and intimacy grew to try and fill the gaping hole that losing you and Quynh had left behind. But nothing could ever replace the two of you. If Nicky is the moon that lights my path, you have always been my rock, my steadfast support, and Quynh was ever the fire that warmed me when I was cold. I have missed you so much, I cannot tell you how many times I would look over at you and it would rip my heart to pieces that I could not pull you into my arms.”

He glanced over at Nicky, who unsurprisingly looked deeply emotional, like his self control was hanging by a thread. Nicky swallowed, deeply. “What he said,” he whispered.

Andy had to close her eyes for a minute, overwhelmed, but she didn’t let go of either Joe’s hand or Quynh’s. “Come here, boys,” she pleaded, her voice strained, and Joe got up to go into her arms, letting Nicky come around behind her, resting his head on her uninjured shoulder. Andy gave a deep, shaky sigh, as if the final pieces of the puzzle that was her heart had just come together. “I didn’t dare to hope that this would happen in my lifetime, that I would get to have this again,” she confessed. Joe knew that they would have to tell Quynh eventually that Andy was mortal now, but he was still holding out hope that a few of the leads Copley was working on would pan out and they would get to enjoy many more centuries with Andy. “You don’t know how much I missed this, all three of you,” and Nicky chuckled, low and a little pained. “Trust me, boss, I think we know,” and then he cracked one eye open, peering over at where Nile and Booker were watching them avidly.

“I know that we need to talk about a lot of things if they’re going to be a part of this,” he ventured. “If they even want to be a part of this. But all I want right now is to lay down and not know whose arm is around me and whose lips are on my shoulder, you know?” As much as he loved Joe, as much as he treasured the time they had spent just the two of them, he had missed that so much, that feeling of being completely surrounded by love, overwhelmed with it on all sides. Andy hummed in agreement, and the six of them went to crowd onto the king bed in the master suite, hopelessly tangled up in each other, boneless and at peace, and they all knew that for once they would sleep without nightmares.

OP here: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I didn't think this would get filled, but I'm so so delighted by this whole fic. The PINING! Andy seeing the boys together and thinking they don't need her! Joe crying over Booker! Quynh confusing the newbies by kissing the boys! This is everything I could have asked for and more. Thank you so much, you've brightened my day (week) immensely!

I am so glad you liked it!!! It was really a great prompt and wouldn’t leave me alone until I did something with it haha.

Also, I had to throw those hints in there that somehow Andy will regain her immortality cause it was breaking my heart too much to think about them wasting so many centuries over misunderstandings and all finding each other when she’s mortal! So in my mind, somehow she and the other five have lots and lots of years to enjoy together :)

Funny story by the way—I was sitting outside at a cafe pondering ideas for this and the two guys next to me started a huge conversation about their former roommate “Quinn” (Quynh?) who they lost contact with. A sign from the universe, ha.
