Fills Post #2
This is where your fills go!
Fills can but don't need to be anonymous.
Start a new comment for each fill. Don't use threaded comments for new fills. Threaded comments are for fills that take up more than one comment field, or for feedback/squee/praise.
In your fill, please mention the prompt you are responding to, and provide a link to your prompt in the body of the text.
Please use a header with your character(s)/pairing and a title and/or keyword or short phrase. (For example: "Just you and me: Andy/Quynh, Make-up sex" or "Between a Rock and A Hard Place: Nicky/Joe/Booker, first time DP").
Please also comment with a link to your fill in the prompt post, under the prompt you are responding to. Your comment header should include the word "Fill" or "Filled", so that those checking out the thread can find your fic/art more easily (For example: "FILL: Re: Any/Quynh, Make-up sex").
If you end up cleaning up your fill and posting it elsewhere (AO3, your personal journal), feel free to link the posted fic/art here as well.

We Who Serve (Nile & Team, Winter Soldier AU) 1/?
(Anonymous) 2020-11-25 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)What if the Guard ended up in government custody a long time ago? During WW2, or even earlier. Ever since then — and since a pretty horrific breaking-in period — they’ve been unwillingly used as an elite black-ops team to further government interests.
Then Nile dies. And the Guard are a tightly-kept secret, but she’s heard...rumours. So when she gets orders to return to the States for a change in assignment, she thinks about the dreams she’s been having and how much she hates killing, and she bugs out FAST.
Naturally, the Guard are deployed to hunt her down. Naturally, the Guard are not terribly keen on this idea. (Little sister needs to be FREE not dragged into this hellish attack-dog existence.) Naturally, their handlers aren’t going to tolerate any arguments.
Nile therefore spends a few terrifying weeks/months/(years??) locked in a terrifying cat-and-mouse game with ruthless ancient warriors who seem to be able to track her wherever she goes. Except...a lot of the times she gets shot, she manages to regenerate in time to get away. And sometimes the day before they show up, she dreams about someone staring REALLY HARD at a map of her current location. And it’s funny how often someone just happens to be looking the other way when she’s trying to blend into a crowd, or starts searching at the opposite end of the building from her hiding place, or takes longer than her to wake up after she throws both of them off a cliff in desperation. (Also it’s funny how she dreams about torture after some of those more obvious slip-ups.) And sometimes they talk to her when they get close enough, and they seem almost friendly...
And Nile has a new mission: Break these guys out of government custody STAT.
Re: Quynh, I’m happy with her either never having gone in the coffin, or showing up during Nile’s time on the run and joining forces.

“Jay, I need to get changed –”
“Not yet, you don’t,” Jay said bluntly. There were shadows under her eyes, and she didn’t look much happier than Dizzy. “Look – have you ever heard of the Immortals?”
Nile closed her mouth on her first response. “The Immortals are a myth.”
“They’re not a myth.” Jay glanced past Dizzy, who was standing as far away from Nile as she could get in the cramped storage space, obviously not happy about having been dragged along to waylay her before she could even get from the infirmary back to her bunk. The tent outside was empty, but Jay lowered her voice anyway. “Look – my uncle’s with the NSA. He ran a couple of ops where they sent out the Immortals. High level stuff, he wouldn’t tell me the details. But they’re real.”
Wherever you got military personnel, you got stories. Someone found a militant leader on a beer run, the militia they were trying to root out caught someone from the next base over and cut his ears off, one of the translators banged everyone in Delta squad. The Immortals were just another one of those rumours that floated around in the stream of bragging, war stories, and fantasies poorly disguised as something that really, honestly happened last Thursday. A highly classified wetworks team, the best of the best, deployed to the targets where the brass really didn’t want anyone to know what happened to them. To hear some people tell it, the Immortals could walk into a hideout that would take an entire battalion to crack, and walk out again with the entire compound dead and not a scratch on any of them.
“Okay, so they’re a real black ops team. I’m a Marine, that’s got nothing to do with -”
“They don’t die.”
Despite the heat of Afghanistan, Nile felt cold suddenly. Jay liked a joke as much as anyone else, but now her eyes were deadly serious.
“Everyone dies,” Dizzy muttered, shoulders coming up even higher.
“They don’t.” Jay looked away. “My uncle said – they don’t.”
Nile touched her throat involuntarily. Smooth skin. She couldn’t feel the edges of the graft, even though it must be there. It had to be. Dizzy was right, people didn’t just not die.
“Apparently even real tough guys piss their pants when they shoot a guy in the head and he gets right back up.” The thin layer of bravado in Jay’s voice fell flat.
“I’m a Marine,” Nile said. When they both looked at her she went on. “I signed on as a Marine. I’m not transferring to black ops just because I’ve got the same thing they do -”
“You think you’ve got a choice?” Jay asked bluntly. Her hands were balled into fists. “I said once it would suck if the Immortals decided to quit. You know what he told me? He said even something that can’t die doesn’t like being burned alive.”
Nile gripped her necklace until the cross dug into her palm.
“You’ve gotta go,” Dizzy said abruptly. She still didn’t look happy, but she was looking at Nile again. “Take a Humvee or something and get out before they transfer you.”
“You’ve both gotta go,” Jay said. Dizzy started to protest and Jay rode straight over her. “You were there when she died, you think they’re gonna leave you as a witness? You’ve both got to go now. Don’t pack your shit, just get out of here. I’ll cover for you, but you need to be gone before the orders come through.”
“What about you?” Nile asked. Jay looked away, and Nile stepped around to get in front of her, refusing to let Jay avoid her eyes. “Jay. If they figure out what you told us they’ll come straight after you.”
Jay hissed and hooked her hand around the back of her neck. “I’ll go when you’re clear. Probably safer if we head in different directions, anyway.”
“Probably,” Nile agreed. Her mouth was dry, but her mind was a hard, clear map of the base – where the closest Humvees were parked, how to get in one without being noticed, what supplies she and Dizzy could get hold of on the way. “Jay. Thanks.”
Jay’s mouth crooked up in a genuine smile. “Hey, semper fi.”
“Semper fi,” Nile echoed. Jay nodded to her and walked out of the storage space, and Nile never saw her again.
