Nile's probaly a student or maybe a vet with ptsd from a near death experience. Either way shes back home and getting her life together pulling graveyard shifts at Waffle House so she can study during the day/deal with people less. Booker is just a mess, any and all kinds of mess, drunk, sad, angry; Nile's seen him everyway cuz hes a 3 AM regular and maybe she worries about that white guy who definitely pours way too much of whatever's in that flask in to his coffee cup (always half full, black) and never seems to finish any plate. Either way these two are orbiting each other the way people can only do too early in the morning.

I dunno the Southern in me just jumped out and I felt the need to see these two getting wild deep while somethings burning on the griddle and some drunk girls take loud selfies two booths over, breaking the tension of the conversation but not removing the weight.
