Either during or right after WW2 Nicky and Joe took care of an orphan, offered him a home and raised him, but eventually had to fake their own deaths. They checked up in him occasionally but could never reveal themselves. Now he’s died and they both grief for him, but can’t even go to the funeral.

One of his children gives eulogy and talks about his parents, the two men of different faiths and ethnicities that took him in and raised him, how he had always referred to them as his fathers, and how their love shaped him into becoming a good man everyone knew...
