So on the angst train. Consider the following Nicky doesn't get back up from being shot in the head when the group is escaping the lab. Everyone thinks he has fully gone and Joe basically loses it. They basically go to a safehouse and try to regroup with Joe barely going on and only staying barely alive to honor the memory of his husband.
What no one knows is that Nicky's soul remains behind with Joe as his own personal guardian angel (whether thats full on white wings and a halo or just as a type of spiritual guardian is up to the writer). He cannot touch anything in the physical world, no one can hear or see him. He basically considers it his duty to watch after Joe and be there for him even when his husband does not know it.
However, whenever Joe dies and his soul is in the veil they can see, hear and touch each other. Although Joe thinks he is dreaming.
This continues on with Joe getting into riskier and more intense deaths in order to see the other half of his soul until some death keeps him dead long enough for Nicky to have a conversation with Joe explaining he's basically still there just intangible.
Que Joe and the group looking into ways to make Nickytangible or connected to the mortal coil (through some sort of ritual)
The story can start whenever I would ultimately just like it to conclude with Nicky becoming tangible in all ways until its Joes time. Also the story can be whatever rating the writer wants. :D
