When Booker and his Wife first have sex on their wedding night, she notices him tearing up. It's been an emotional day, so she's not worried about it. Over the next few months, she notices that he always cries a little bit and tries to hide it (poorly), and is horrified to think maybe he's regretting their marriage. She, being the emotionally competent one, gets him to talk about it. Turns out he just gets overwhelmed (in a good way) and can't stop the couple of tears that well up. Cue emotional, tender sex.

So we all know Booker betrayed the team and the break in in the beginning where he's basically gutted to cover his tracks? It goes a little different

In the scene, Nicky was in the kitchen reading a book when the soldiers broke in. Say he gets caught off guard enough, and the soldiers pin him down and tie him to the chair- wrists to the arms of the chair, ankles to the legs of the chair so he can't move or fight back

+While Booker is trying to cover his tracks, he didn't think the soldiers would try to have their way with Nicky before taking him to Merrick. And Booker is stuck watching because his chair in the living room is angled towards the kitchen and he's slowly dying to cover his tracks

++The soldiers make Nicky suck their fingers and they hit him when he bites and one of the soldiers takes it further and gives Nicky a handjob

+++Joe breaks free of the soldiers momentarily and tries to get to Nicky, and Booker hates that they're screaming for each other, desparate and hopeful and crying in Italian, Arabic, a bunch of other languages Booker doesn't understand but they all mean the same thing

++++Joe is the one who's lead our first and Booker watches as the soldiers knock Nicky unconscious and carry him out like a sack of potatoes. Booker can't help his look of disgust when the soldier carrying Nicky thanks Booker for the bit of fun, squeezing Nicky's ass to get his point across but Booker can't do anything, considering he's about to die to cover his tracks

Nicky is always the calm one - except when he's pushed to extremes and is about to make an impulsive bad decision (such as singlehandedly trying to destroy an entire army for hurting a child) and Joe has to hold him back.

Nicky fucks Joe through a panic attack, and I don't mean in any dub-con kind of way. I mean Joe has a panic attack about something else not sex-related and Nicky helps him through it while fucking, either because they were in the middle of something and they don't want to stop, or because it's comfort sex.

(To be clear, when I say "fucks Joe" I don't exclusively mean anyone has to be top or bottom, either can be either and they can also be having non-penetrative sex. The part I'm interested in is the fraught, overwhelming emotions on both ends of the spectrum at the same time, not the mechanics of what tab goes into what slot.)

Modern Beach AU

+Joe is at the beach with Quynh and Booker. He keeps telling Quynh to go talk to the hot woman who's currently owning her two friends in a game of frisbee

++Nicky is at the beach with Nile and Andy. Andy is playing extra hard to show off to the pretty woman reading a book under an umbrella with her friends and Nile and Nicky both know it

+++Little does Nicky know Joe is distracted by him. Nicky goes to take a dip in the water, and Booker is making fun of Joe because Joe is practically salivating over the guy, already getting out his drawing materials

++++Nile and Booker end up hanging out at the bar and they commiserate because their friends are stupid, why don't we all share our towels and merge the groups?

+++++Cue frisbee between Andy, Nile, Quynh and Booker. Joe sits it out because he's secretly trying to draw Nicky as he sees him swimming

++++++Nicky comes out of the water after a bit and Joe is watching this Italian Adonis slow-mo walking out of the water and totally not admiring how each water droplrt clings to his skin or how sexy he looks pushing his wet hair back or marveling at how a speedo looks good on anyone (my cousin says they're popular for swimming in Italy) and then he doesn't hear Booker or Quynh calling for him to watch out and promptly takes a frisbee to the face

Thankfully that wild frisbee throw (courtesy of Andy because they have learned that Andy is very much a go big or go home person) catches Nicky's attention and he's suddenly kneeling next to Joe, carefully seeing to the damage his friend's carelessness caused

Booker has always been jealous if what Joe and Nicky have, and it's bred a twist of obsession in him. He gets the opportunity to take Joe away from it all, keeps him disoriented and barely sober, and spends weeks/months/years fucking him, convincing him he belongs to Booker, and only Booker.

Despite what everyone assumes, one (or both of them) has never felt the carnal desire to have sex. I'd like to see them talking it out and working it out between themselves, with the immense love they have. I'm not opposed to some angst in there, as long as it's resolved.
