Nicky is a hugely famous Christian singer (based on the way Luca sings I'm thinking probably something along the line of Skillet or Switchfoot, he's CCM for the """cool""" kids). He's never said anything blatantly homophobic, or about his relationships, so when he comes out as gay he doesn't get why so many people are surprised by it? He REALLY wasn't expecting the vitriol directed his way from former fans who view his relationship as some sort of personal betrayal.
