Modern AU

After Nicky's boyfriend abuses him/assaults him, he had issues with intimacy. He asks his best friend Joe to sleep with him to help him through his trauma.

Feel free to switch roles or add any kinks you want.

So I saw this post (https://naamahdarling.tumblr.com/post/642167388219031552/thenameislion-dandelion-idiots-to-lovers-20k) and now I really want an AU where Andy and Quynh do this.

(Link is to a screenshotted tweet reading "Anyone down to take couples counseling and see at what point the therapist realizes we don't even know each other?", which the poster has dubbed 'idiots to lovers'.)

Modern time. Joe is an artist with a dangerous hobby, someting like freeclimbing or base jumping or whatever. It's dangerous... and one time Joe gets injured pretty bad. His friends bring him to a hospital, where he meets Dr. Nicky DiGenova. And he falls immediately in love with him. Not only has he the most beautiful eyes he's ever seen and a profile to die for (and he itches to draw him the moment his hands are healed), but also Joe's competence kink kicks in because the doc seems to have magic hands. :D
Needless to say that Dr. DiGenova likes his new patient, too. Like... in a very inappropriate way ;)

Okay, so, obviously Booker keeps tabs on the Guard while he’s in exile, just in case they need his help. And maybe he also adds Nile’s family to his little surveillance rotation, because he may have told her that it was a mistake for her to try and go back to their lives, but that doesn’t mean he wants them to get hurt.

Well, somehow Nile’s mom and brother get in serious trouble (don’t care if it’s related to Nile’s immortality/Merrick etc or just some generic bad guys try and rob them or something) and Booker has no choice but to quickly intervene to save them.

He succeeds, but how is he supposed to cope now with a Mrs Freeman who definitely saw him die and come back to life several times during the fight and doesn’t freak out, just claps him on the back and says he must be blessed? How is he supposed to deal when she insists on taking him home and feeding him comfort food and showing him all the things of Nile’s she’s kept and saying she would do anything just to see Nile one more time?

TLDR Exiled Booker saves Nile’s family and realises that maybe he was wrong, not all families would react like his did, and that both Nile and her family would be better off enjoying the time they have left together.

Bonus points: after tearful Freeman family reunion scene, Mrs Freeman promptly starts scheming to set up her daughter with that nice French boy with the sad eyes

Words cannot express how much I. LOVE. THIS. It is just everything. Booker putting his exile to good use, but trying to get too involved, then being forced to get VERY involved? I love it. Mrs. Freeman being totally chill with his immortality and taking him in like a lost puppy, making sure he's warm and fed and reminded that there's kindness in the world? I love it. Booker realizing that maybe his horrific family outcome isn't destined to be replicated by Nile? I love it. MRS. FREEMAN PLAYING MATCHMAKER FOR BOOK OF NILE???? I! LOVE! IT!!!!!!!

OP of this prompt is very excited that someone is as keen on the idea as I am!! The thought of Booker being given maternal love and affection just kills me. And also, I feel like if he could just interact with Mrs. Freeman he would realise that, not only are all families different so there was never a guarantee that things would go as badly as with his family, but he’s remembering how his sons reacted, not thinking as how a parent would react to find out their child can’t die—it seems like Booker would have done anything for his sons, so surely he can understand why Mrs. Freeman doesn’t envy Nile’s immortality really, she’s just happy that her baby girl is okay.

Also, the image of Booker and Nile maybe eventually getting married and Mrs. Freeman actually getting to be there for it and, even better, knowing that “death do us part” is a long way away for her beloved daughter and her son in law....🥺

Theres this amazing fic i read a long time ago where the soulmates would paint each others skin with a color that pertains to them the first time they touched and oooh i fell in love. The whole team is technically soulmates even if they split up quite often. I cant imagine the surprise when andy and quynh found lykon, then joe nicky, booker, and then finally nile realizing theyre all soulmates!! Such pretty colors painted onto each other :’3

Yes, exactly! The situation is totally different coming from a mortal parent's perspective towards an immortal child. Children are meant to outlive their parents, to grow and mature past them, whereas it's nothing but heartbreaking to think of a parent outliving their child. Mrs. Freeman would be able to come to terms with it so much easier than Booker's sons.

Nicolo is having trouble settling in at the monastery. The Abbot sends him to work as a tutor for Yusuf, a widower with young children he needs help looking after.

Established relationship with Ace/Demi Nile. Maybe Nile's been super avoidant about sex prior to this but the basic gist is she generally (in the past) hasnt bothered with correcting her partners about getting her off. It takes a while and her headspace has to be perfect and the phase of the moon has to be in alignment with venus in the correct house and honestly she doesn't really need it.

She prefers the general intimacy of sex with some one she cares about over the physical realities of orgasms. But Booker has been very interested/invested in her pleasure and shes maybe afraid it'll be a deal breaker?

Nile has just landed her dream job and her first day is on Monday. After all her years in the military and college, she finally has a position she can be proud of, in an industry she loves. She's so excited to start this new phase of her life—but really nervous too. So the Saturday before her first day, she goes out to blow off some steam. There's a lot of dancing, a lot of drinking, and a very satisfying one-night stand with a somewhat older guy whose name she can't remember. It's the perfect way to recalibrate herself before her first day at the new job.

...That is, until she walks into her first big all-staff meeting that Monday afternoon and recognizes her boss's boss's boss as the guy who fucked her six ways from Sunday the night before last. Turns out she'll never have trouble remembering his name again because he literally runs the company.

Cue mutual, silent panic attacks as Nile and Book recognize each other in a crowd of all of their colleagues. Cue both of them finding a quick moment to agree to be super professional and let bygones be bygones. Cue them totally failing to be professional and having wild hot sex at the earliest opportunity. Bonus points if it's on company property.

Look, their lives are exciting enough. When they have some downtime, maybe they like to spend it by playing pretend that they're a perfectly average suburban couple with 2.5 kids, a dog, and a mortgage. They make up ridiculous work stories about non existent annoying coworkers and all the tiny details of their imaginary normal jobs, they talk about needing to fix that leaky pipe, they pick a movie to watch after dinner.

Sometimes it's sexual (dirty talk about doing the laundry), sometimes it's comfort (they might not actually get sick, but it's kind of fun to pretend that Nicky has a cold and Joe has to take care of him), sometimes it's a little of both, but it's nice to take a break sometimes.
