OP here to say you're right, i was imagining canon (with a healthy dose of fuck historical realism) and a modern AU hadn't even crossed my mind, but i absolutely adore what you did with it!!

i certainly wouldn't be opposed to someone tackling the prompt in the canon timeline but if not i'm absolutely satisfied ♥

Quynh is going shopping for the day and she asks Nile to come along. Since Quynh is so fashionable, Nile jumps at the chance. Nile expects normal shopping at normal stores, but instead they end up at a high-end boutique that sells only lingerie. Nile is embarrassed at first, but at Quynh's insistence she tries on a few pieces. She's never been one to spend a lot of money on things like underwear, but she finds she really likes all these fancy lacy sets Quynh has her trying on. After a few hours in the boutique, Quynh buys Nile everything she likes. When they get home, Nile puts on her favorite pieces and they fuck.

I don’t know why, but I’ve always been a sucker for exes realizing they still have feelings for each other and getting back together, so....

Back in the 1100s, Nicky and Joe basically go straight from enemies to husbands, because they realise they’re intensely attracted to each other and one or both of them doesn’t want to have sex outside of marriage. (Since it’s the 12th century, “marriage” can either be them making vows privately to each other, or a lovely AU with no homophobia in the Middle Ages so they can get legally married).

Problem is, it was really way too soon to get past all their issues, Nicky’s still carrying around a metric ton of guilt, and they just don’t know each other well enough, and they amicably break up after a few years.

It’s fine, really. They can definitely just be friends and travel companions on their way to go find those women they keep dreaming about. They definitely don’t still feel a sharp pang of lust when they look at each other and remember what it felt like to cuddle together at night. They definitely aren’t finally falling truly in love, not now, not now that they’ve agreed that their marriage was hopeless.

TLDR 10-15 years of mutually pining exes and then they get remarried for good this time ❤️

I think I read few fics with the above dynamic where Nicky becomes immortal.... would love to see the opposite, where Joe becomes mortal and lives a very normal life with Nicky until old age...

Would appreciate the usual angst where Joe is conflicted loving a mortal so much...while Nicky feel insecure with how often Joe has to disappear and/or seem closed off from telling him some parts of his history?

+ BAMF yet very human/mundane Nicky moment if a certain dangerous situation occur, he uses like his frying pan to knock out someone who's attempting hurt Joe?
+++ Nicky being bemused at seeing Joe having some really odd sets of skills and random trivia knowledge about history, but appreciates it nonetheless as a librarian.
+++++ Joe has weird friends that Nicky don't really understand but still loves cooking for them. It's sort of odd that they look exactly the same every year they come by.

And I just really need the very first time the dam broke and Booker just freaking went for it in a passionate kiss that lifts Nile off to her toes like ‘damn wtf’ and left her all daze and confused but wanting more because that was super unexpected but also about time JFC...

Don’t ask me why she didn’t just make the first move herself instead of waiting around. Maybe she wanted to wait for him to be ready to move on from his wife and kids and now he is.

Whatever scenario is fine, maybe he planned it and talked himself into it or maybe he had some liquid courage or maybe he was just a little bit jealous and possessive. Whatever the reason I’d like the feels to be real and in love because that’s what make it so damn good.

Nile and Booker want nothing more than to be together, but it’s impossible. Maybe it’s a historical AU of some kind and there are serious systemic barriers to their love or maybe it’s a modern AU and it’s something relatively silly like an office policy against coworkers dating that’s keeping them apart, but either way they can’t be together in public the way they want to be and it’s killing both of them. So they find secret ways to express their love instead.

I’m talking the littlest touches, hands “accidentally” brushing as they pass by each other. Loaded glances because even though they know better, they can’t help but keep an eye on one another. Anonymous love notes and tiny, meaningless-to-others-but-everything-to-them gifts left behind for their love to find. Yearning, pining, the whole nine million yards of secret, passionate, overwhelming love.

It’s now that I admit I am torn between wanting to see this all culminate in a desperate quickie where they fuck each other senseless but silently away from prying eyes... and wanting to read a chaste account of drawn-out mutual pining. So it’s up to the author/commenters which way they want to go 😉

Mrs Le Livre (can we pls come up with a fanon first name for her?) has more experience than 20 year old virgin Booker when they get married (Booker knows this and is cool with it, no shaming!)

Their wedding night sex is really terrible at first. Go nuts with the humour—does he come after like 5 seconds? Does he try and go in the wrong hole at first, or accidentally knee her in the stomach?

Mrs Le Livre is kind and understanding and trying to think of how to tell him they have some stuff to work on, but the good thing is he already knows and is extremely eager to learn how to do better. They have a lot of fun together as she teaches him things, and his skills go from zero to hero basically.

A few hundred years later, Nile reaps the benefits of all his dedicated studying—but luckily, humanity had gotten more creative about sex so there’s still plenty for them to figure out together for the first time.
